“Yes, more than 100 Democrats voted to authorize Bush to take the nation to war. Most of them did so in the belief that the president and his administration were truthful in their statements that Saddam Hussein was a gathering menace.”

(Bob Graham)

Quotation above was stated by Bob Graham in his opinion that written in “The Washington Post”, titled “What I Knew Before the Invasion”, on November 20th, 2005. He is a former Democratic senator from Florida and currently a fellow at Harvard University's Institute of Politics. At that time, Bush Jr. convinced Democrats that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, and he believed that the weapons was not used for the purpose of peace. Therefore, Bush said that US had to declare war to Iraq. Finally, 100 Democrats believed with Bush and they voted to authorize him to take the nation to war.

I took those quotation because the US foreign policy after 9/11 tragedy was war on terrorism. After those tragedy, US strengthen its security defenses and champaign to combat terrorism. Actually, declaring war is the role of Congress, not the President. In the fact, the President took the role of Congress to declare war. Actually, I do disappointed with Bush’s decision to declare war in Iraq. Scott McClellan, the spokesperson of White House (2003 to 2006), in his book “Kebohongan di Gedung Putih”, said that Bush and his staff had manipulated the amount of data and information that Iraq was producing weapons of mass destruction.

Compared to US, Indonesia is kind of country that prefers diplomacy than war in its foreign policy. Besides that, Indonesia embraces “free and active” politic as its foreign politic. “Free” means that Indonesia does not want to join with any bloc or alliance, so we can say that Indonesia is netral country. And “active” itself means that Indonesia always tries to be the active country in maintaining and creating the world peace.
